The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) issued a circular on 24 July 2017 (Circular) which requires that all new applications for registration of real estate investment trusts (REITs) and infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs) be mandatorily and exclusively registered on the SEBI intermediary portal i.e. https://siportal.sebi.gov.in (Portal).
The Circular states that the Portal may be used for application for registration, reporting and filing under the provisions of the SEBI (Real Estate Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014 and the SEBI (Infrastructure Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014 (collectively, the Regulations). Additionally, all SEBI registered REITs and InvITs are now required to file/ submit/ apply for any request, as may be required under the provision of the Regulations and circulars issued thereunder through the Portal which is now operational.
Existing SEBI registered InvITs have already been advised to activate their online accounts, and in the event of any queries or clarifications, the Circular states that the users may refer to the manual provided in the Portal or contact the Portal helpline.
